Landed Cost Calculator
Enter the goods value, freight and insurance, then the duty rate for your HS code and the destination's import tax rate. The calculator returns the customs value, the duty and tax charged, the total landed cost and the cost per unit.
What belongs in landed cost
Landed cost is everything paid to get a unit to the destination, including the parts that arrive on separate invoices. It starts with the goods value and the international freight and insurance that make up the customs value. It adds duty, import tax, the carrier's handling or disbursement fee, and any brokerage or compliance charge.
Import tax is included only when it is not recoverable. For a VAT-registered business buying for resale, recoverable import VAT is a cash-flow item rather than a cost, and including it would overstate the unit cost and understate the margin.
Duty is product-specific
Two products of the same value entering the same country can face very different duty because they carry different tariff codes. The calculator takes a rate rather than a product name for that reason: it cannot classify goods, and a guessed rate would be worse than no rate.
Get the code from the destination's tariff schedule, or ask the supplier for the code they use on export. If the rate has changed recently — several markets introduced new measures in 2026 — check the effective date before using it in a price.

Frequently asked questions
Should import VAT be included in landed cost?
Only if it is not recoverable. A VAT-registered business buying for taxable resale can usually reclaim it, so the landed cost should exclude it. The calculator has a checkbox for this.
Where do I find the duty rate?
In the destination country's tariff schedule, using the product's HS code. The reference entries for each market link to the customs authority and explain the basis.
Why does the result differ from my carrier's invoice?
The carrier adds handling, disbursement and sometimes brokerage charges, and may use a different exchange rate. Enter those fees in the handling and other fields to match the invoice.
Does the calculator apply de minimis automatically?
Yes, when the de minimis checkbox is on. It applies the destination's low-value rule, including the EU's temporary €3 duty and the UK's £135 duty relief.
